I have enjoyed the water saving feature with precise fill, and the multiple choices for load, temperature, extra rinse etc the sounds took some getting used to but now I just think of it as being high tech.

I absolutely love this washer and dryer! My clothes always come out clean and the cycle doesn™™t go on forever. It saves a huge amount of space. The energy used definitely isn™™t breaking the bank. I was speculating on getting the washer and dryer combo but I never buy anything that has only been on the market for a few years. I am very pleased with my purchase.

Dryer handle and knob are cheap plastic. The handle was easily replaced but the knob design makes it so that you can™™t just pop it back on. The plastic part holding it in place breaks and then there is no fixing it. Bad design

TLDR: Two consecutive defective machines, GE refused to accept responsibility for the products, and Bodewell treated me like garbÃge.
We recently purchased this unit, and it immediately had problems with the lid lock. I had to physically hold the lid down to get it to work.
After having a repair tech come out three times, we found that the tech rendered it completely unusable, yet reported back to the company that it was working ™perfectly™. We had to go to the laundromat for two weeks while we fought with GE/Bodewell to replace our defective machine. All of this took time out of our work schedules, and money out of our wallets. They finally acquiesced when Home Depot was involved.
The second machine had the exact same problem, and worse™"it wouldn™™t even fill with water. The final tech determined it had a faulty locking mechanism and motor overheating. He confirmed that we have good water flow, so that was not the source of the issue. It™™s repaired now, purportedly, but we are going to return it to Home Depot and pay more for an LG. I™™ve seen Maytag™™s from the 1950™™s that still work, yet two consecutive brand new GE machines were built so cheaply and sloppily that they broke before we had done two loads.
On a separate note, Bodewell™"GE™™s outsourced repair/warranty servicer, was absolutely horrible to me. I was chided, hung up on, and I will also quote a rep, who replied to me when I expressed that I wanted a refund for our faulty machine: ™We don™™t operate based off customer™™s wants™"we operate based off procedure.™ He said this while interrupting me repeatedly, like a robot. THIS DIRECTLY CONTRADICTS THE REFUND POLICY OUTLINED ON GE™™S WEBSITE. They insisted that we proceed to repair the second defective machine and would not refund us.
The customer clearly doesn™™t matter to these companies. We are just sources of revenue to financially abuse with poorly manufactured, overpriced products. This is the most civil I can be in expressing my anger and disappointment™"but believe me, my true thoughts about this product and customer experience are much saltier.
Final note™"even though the second machine was provided by GE, and therefore they were liable for any defects, they vehemently refused to take responsibility for the machine. The serial number was theirs, and was not associated with Home Depot. Regardless, after much fighting and back and forth with Bodewell, Home Depot finally decided to accept the machine for a full refund, which is very unconventional. Home Depot did the right thing, and GE passed the buck like any greedy corporation would.
Needless to say, I definitely would not recommend buying any shoddy machines from this corrupt, unaccountable, and heartless company.
P.S. When GE responds to this review extending their apologies for my experience™"definitely know that they don™™t actually care™"they just want to make it look like they do for optics.

I've been using this washer and dryer for three weeks now, and love it. I can do really big loads, and the clothes come out clean. The only thing I don't like, is there isn't a rinse only setting, which when needed, I use the quick wash setting. So much better than my front load system.

The washer was defective from day one and we have had a technician out four times. From the first visit we said we would like to just return the unit and replace with a new one. The tech told us that was not an option, as long as it was repairable and parts could be ordered we could not return it. We reported the defective unit within 24 hours of receiving it! We inquired again on the second visit about getting a replacement, this was withing 30 days...30 DAYS (Look at GE Large Appliance Returns Policy) and were told the same thing. Now here we are, still without a unit that does not fully function, can't return it, need to take time off of work to have service come out because parts can still be ordered as they GUESS what the problem is...for how long? No one knows. DON'T BUY A GE!

The washer and dryer work great. The only downside is that the interior of the dryer knob, which is made of plastic, cracked constantly resulting in the knob not being able to grip the timer to turn on the dryer. I have went through at least ten dryer knobs and I™™m not exaggerating. Finally, a friend put a wire washer nut inside the around the hole on the interior of the knob to prevent it from cracking. So far it has worked.

This model is the worst ever, it seems I never have a balanced load. The spin cycle is so aggressive it shakes entire unit, then needs to be leveled again after every load. The knob on dryer keeps breaking and has been replaced 4 times.

The GE unitized washer, dryer model number GUD27ESPM1DG is extremely noisy. All the grinding and gear shifting is very concerning to me because it sounded like it was going to break, but when I looked up online, apparently this is how noisy it really is. Very disappointing, but because I live in a condo with limited space, this is my only option.

It lasted 4 years, and was great for that period. But a $1500 machine should last longer. The main seal went out so it started leaking water everywhere, and pouring water all over it's own wiring. The repairman that came out said the whole thing would have to come apart and a new tub assembly with motor and tranny would have to go in. $1400 repair. So Im buying a Whirlpool.

This is the second stackable GE washer/dryer we've bought. The first was in our old house and we really loved it. We moved to a new construction house that didn't have a washer and dryer included. We bought the same make and model as our previous stackable unit because we loved it so much. It is extremely efficient energy wise, washes clothes thoroughly and takes just under 90 minutes to dry a full drum of clothes, towels or sheets. It is extremely quiet with the laundry room doors shut. It has great capacity size for both washer and dryer and the cycles are quick.

This is an exact replacement for my previous washer/dryer standup. it fits in the space, is quiet and mostly reliable. I am hoping that I will not run into the same issues with the knobs on the front wearing down,not turning to the correct selection and eventual breaking. it was expensive to replace them, and while I could turn them, they still didn't line up correctly - we had to guess. Finally the agitator quit, which is why I have a new one.

My washer/dryer was delivered 3 days after I purchased it. I washed a load, then when it began to spin,it sounded like it was coming through the wall. My dogs were scared.It even made a loud grinding noise. I called the store where I purchased it. They came out and said I should be able to replace the washer/dryer since it was new. GE came out the next week and I was told that there was nothing wrong with the unit. If nothings wrong, why is a new unit violently shaking, vibrating and making crunching sounds during the spin cycle? I have paused it and only washed, small loads too. I have pictures where there are cuts on the plastic part of the washer. I feel as if I have been taken advantage of. I just want a replacement washer/dryer. I've had 2 people from 2 companies tell me that they cannot replace my appliance, I cannot afford to purchase another appliance.

Now that we have a unit that works, I really like it. It looks nice, has good capacity, a nice variety of cycles, is quieter than what we had before and seems to do well with a variety of load sizes and weights. I gave it a 4 because it took 3 tries to finally get one that worked. The first one leaked all over, the second one had a bad noise in the dryer. Both were returned at, or immediately after delivery. The 3rd one looks great and works well, like I expect from a GE appliance. It was just unfortunate that we had the significant inconvenience of having 2 "lemons" first.

I have had the unit for just a week. I love the large capacity of the washer and dryer. My controls are at the top away from little hands. I like the assortment of cycles. I have to get use to the sound; it is different. The cycles are nice and long, not rushed. The overall design is well made.

It was definitely time to replace the original unit and this was the chosen one given the space constraints. I like the color and it's quiter but does make sounds during agitation. The capacity is better than I thought and can easily fit my queen comforter in the washer. Adequate cycle options for me as well. All in all a decent unit!
