Faulty Starter

I've had this dryer for less than 3mos and the starter button works occasionally at best. Already looking to see if it needs replaced. The buzzer cannot be turned off and scares everyone that hears it. Tried to go simple with this one since my last GE at so many clothes in the drum we had to replace it. Definitely expect more from GE.

Because it's difficult to purchase appliances online, I purchased from a limited in store selection. I haven't had any problems with this dryer but it's not what I consider to be "heavy duty". I wouldn't recommend it for large families. Otherwise is okay.

Control Hard to turn

I purchased the set and very disappointed in the efficiency. I™€™ve used it 3 times do far. The dryer doesn™€™t get hot even on ™€œhigh heat™€. For a small load like 3 towels sets, I had to run a 90 minute cycle plus 30 additional minutes. Needless to say, I™€™m very disappointed. I tried to get GE Cares to let me exchange for another set or refund my $1400. They told me no refunds and to get it from Home Depot who also have a no refund policy on washers and dryers. Very disappointed and will now add GE to my list of appliances to never purchase again.

We found a matched pair GE washer and dryer for $1049.00, with free delivery and removal of the old ones. Monday morning the new appliances were installed. Three weeks later they are working well.

This dryer was great up until a couple days ago when the heating element went. It is only 1.5 years old! You call GE and get stuck in a never ending loop of automated phone service and can™€™t get a live person. I call my own repair place and the cost to repair this is almost as much as a brand new dryer. Being that this just went out of warranty, I am extremely mad because GE dryers are supposed to last years!! If you try to schedule service on the website, it will cost $120 travel fee plus parts and labor. They want you to buy their service plan. Never again.

I bought this dryer from Home Depot on 5/11/25 - less than 1 year ago. The control dial appears stripped and it will not turn on. I have read online that this is a known issue. I called GE for service they referred me to local appliance repair. However, the will not come out until parts come in, and ™€œthis item is out of stock. No ETA - Factory Backorder. ™€œ Also, online it says this could be for days, weeks, or months™€. Meanwhile I am out of a dryer and my extended warranty does not apply. All I can do is sit and wait. Or throw it out.

The dryer doesn™€™t dry clothes like my old one did . I have to put it in hot and 40 to 50 minutes to dry. The old one I could put on warm for 30 to 40 minutes. And it does not have a buzzer signal to adjust when clothes are dry. It has a built in one but it™€™s so quiet you have to be close to it to hear it go off. Just don™€™t make things like the use to. Also like the old ones the door opens down this one is from the side and doesn™€™t have a light.

DO NOT PURCHASE! This dryer caused a fire and could have burned my house down if I wasn't home. I have owned this dryer for less than 90 days!! Apparently this is a common issue with all GE dryers where the wiring for the heating element is not strong enough to hold the electricity needed for the dryer to heat! Called GE and was on the phone for an hour! Customer service was no help and consumer relations couldn't care less about their product being a fire hazard. I'm expected to wait a 1-2 weeks for a tech, and then another 1-2 weeks for parts to be ordered and installed! UNACCEPTABLE!!
